Last page of Why I Scrapbook...

This is the last page and I have stuck the book all together but as you can see it is getting dark and the flash is too flashy even when off so I will put photos of the finished mini book up tomorrow when I can take pics in daylight. This page is all about the lush paper and shiny stuff. The shiny stuff bit is obvious. I took the photos today and the papers spread out on table were only from one box...I found the frog peg at the bottom of the box and just thought it was lovely. Papers used for this page all came from DCWV Hippy Chick stack. I used my Border punch for butterflies in paper at top and scallop at bottom. Glitter for Lush and flock for Paper - messy process.
Thanks Shimelle for setting this challenge.

Technology, iphones, cooking apps and mess

Thought last post all worked till I checked it out. I then tried to fix the mistakes several times. I think it works now but sometimes technology drives me mad. Well... I think it is more that I am far too impatient. As LG has pointed out on many occasions hitting the buttons again does not make it work! Maybe the new Apple touch pad thingy will improve my life but I'm not so sure. I own and love my ipod but have not yet bought into the iphone. I don't know why - LG, aka Uncle Gadget, has his surgically attached. When I try and text or surf using it I find I keep hitting the wrong buttons and I know I am not the only one. Next time you are out watch iphone owners cursing as they hit the wrong bit or bemusedly turning the thing round to get the screen the right way up. I know I will eventually get one and am a stick in the mud for persevering with a phone and an ipod but one is for communicating and one is for music. I think I maybe like their separate uses. Am I the only one? I suspect I am as on recent blogging and scrapping platforms people have been enthusing about the ability to use the apps on iphone to blog. LG has now bought the Jamie Oliver App and on Friday we had a lemon chicken and salsa meal which was very tasty. I think men (sexist I know) love the idea that a piece of techno kit can identify their three random ingredients, produce a recipe and then show you how to make it in 20 minutes. It wouldn't suit me as I make a huge mess as I cook and yes I do aim to use every pan and utensil in the kitchen and scatter them behind me. It is a good thing that Lens Guy cleans up after me although I wish he would not whisk my stirring spoon that I left lying by the hob into the dishwasher every time I put it done. As you can imagine this approach to cooking would not suit using a small piece of technology that requires you to press your sticky fingers all over it. Can you imagine making cupcake frosting and scrolling down to the next picture?

Inspiring and interesting sites - domestic avoidance

I have been surfing away the last hour as It means I can avoid do any tidying or domestic chores. To be fair Lens Guy does the bulk of this but at weekends I dip my toe into domestic chores. I spend a happy ten minutes looking at the bags, cushions and art on this site called click for art. I found it last year when I was buying a Dan Baldwin cup and sauces for Lens Guy. I read a lovely blog called Basement Chronicles.

Storage, organisation and pages three and four

I was taking pics today to show how I like colour and arranging things. The printer's drawer I made into a holder for my jewellery is a classic example. I love it and it helps me to find things quickly.

I need to focus on me a bit which is why I created the I am an inveterate hoarder page in the book. As one of the pics was of pieces of shell capiz cut off a light that was too long I thought I should include them. The acetate overlay uses a paper from Shabby Princess Sweet Serenity and the I am is from the same range. Not sure where I found the butterfly but will try and find source.
The next page shows "Lens Guy". The pictures were taken on different days but they give you an idea of what he does. Youngest daughter and I have spent many chilly, and not so chilly days sitting around waiting while he does his job. I had to find something to fill in my time... Next page

Here's the next page. It is a hybrid page like a lot of my work so I felt that the dictionary definition suited this. I also like the idea of layers and the idea that the reader has to touch and lift to read more detail. As I fell asleep last night I was thinking that the word hybrid applies to my family and decided that had to be the next page explaining how we are seven individuals but one family and I need to scrap this ever changing phenomenon.

I tried to zoom in more to show the layers in this pic and the fact that despite the mess I have hand written my journalling.

Now off to play with a tree mask and my hybrid family.

I know what I want this to look like but...

I think I need to sign up to Shimelle's blogging class as well. How many different looks can one blog have? I subscribe to the less is more design school when doing things online - offline and on paper is another thing.

First Foray into posting

I had just posted a message on Shimelle's page about "This is why I scrapbook" and the fact I have no blog. However have blogged before when in Canada in 2007 so just need to get going again... if I can remember what to do.
Without further ado here is front cover. I had lots of fun embellishing a mix of chipboard letters and a metal "h" that I cut out. Watch out for burning fingers when embellishing metal (you would think I would know but common sense seems to disappear when playing with paper and stuff). It is also quite subdued and pink for me but was just trying out some new techniques. On the other side I have started explaining why, or rather what my mini book will be about. Apart from the obvious about having fun and escaping into my own world I have decided it's a guilty pleasure. As I get to indulge myself by buying stash and stealing time for me. Most of my friends view scrapbooking and card making as eccentric. Some wonder why I spend money and time on paper, ribbons and bling instead of handbags and gladrags ... one of my answers is because it lasts for ever. I have written a list about who I am and I think each page is going to reflect a different part of me which should explain the why of the scrapbooking. I hope you follow because I'm not sure I do. Now I have to go as it is my turn to cook dinner and everyone is hungry and I have lost track of time yet again.
